Treasure Planet was released by Walt Disney Feature Animation in November 2002, representing one of the studio's most ambitious productions of the early digital era. A science-fiction reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel, the film blended traditional hand-drawn character animation with extensive CGI environments. Though it underperformed commercially, it has since earned a devoted following for its visual ambition and emotional depth, and remains a distinctive artifact of Disney animation at a transitional moment in the medium's history.
