Treasure Planet was released by Walt Disney Feature Animation in November 2002, representing one of the studio's most ambitious productions of the era. A science-fiction reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel, the film employed a distinctive "retro-futurist" visual language blending traditional hand-drawn characters against digitally rendered environments. Though a commercial disappointment upon release, it has earned considerable reassessment among animation enthusiasts for its technical artistry and painterly scope.
