FILM NOTES

Treasure Planet was released by Walt Disney Feature Animation in November 2002, representing one of the studio's most ambitious productions of the early digital era. A reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel set in a science-fantasy universe, the film blended traditional hand-drawn character animation with CGI environments. Though it underperformed theatrically, it has since earned a devoted following for its visual invention and emotional depth.

This cell, titled B.E.N., captures the eccentric robot in a dimly lit cavernous interior, rendered small against the vast darkness of Treasure Planet itself. Across the three frames, slight movement is visible, and a circular element emerges in the background. Also present in the scene is Captain Nathaniel Flint, whose legacy haunts the location these characters inhabit.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
