Treasure Planet arrived in November 2002 from Walt Disney Feature Animation, representing the studio's ambitious reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel transplanted into a retrofuturistic space setting. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the film combined traditional hand-drawn character animation with computer-generated environments, making it one of the final major productions of Disney's traditional animation era before the studio shifted focus entirely to digital filmmaking.

This cell, titled Pirate Invasion by the operator, captures the climactic destruction sequence of Treasure Planet itself across three continuous frames of action. The composition presents the cracking, egg-like planet split by lightning against a dark, stormy atmosphere, with a wooden ship mast visible above and a bird silhouette below, preserving a dramatic moment of the film's spectacular finale on 35mm.
