Treasure Planet arrived in November 2002 as Walt Disney Animation Studios' 43rd feature, a bold reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel transposed into a swashbuckling science-fiction setting. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the film blended traditional hand-drawn character animation with extensive CGI environments, representing one of the studio's most ambitious technical undertakings of the era. Though it performed modestly at the box office, it has since earned a devoted following for its visual invention and emotional depth.
