Treasure Planet arrived in November 2002 from Walt Disney Feature Animation, representing one of the studio's most ambitious undertakings of the era — a science-fiction reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel set across an interstellar frontier. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the film blended traditional hand-drawn animation with CG environments, pushing technical boundaries even as it struggled to find its theatrical audience. It has since earned a devoted following for its visual invention and emotional sincerity.
