Treasure Planet arrived in November 2002 from Walt Disney Feature Animation, representing one of the studio's most ambitious reimaginings of a literary classic. Adapting Robert Louis Stevenson's novel into a science-fiction setting, the film blended traditional hand-drawn character animation with extensive CGI environments. Though it underperformed at the box office, it has since earned a devoted following for its visual daring, emotional depth, and the striking design language that defined its retrofuturist world.
