Treasure Planet arrived in November 2002 from Walt Disney Animation Studios, representing one of the studio's most ambitious reimaginings of a literary classic. Adapting Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island into a science-fiction setting, the film blended traditional hand-drawn character animation with sweeping CG environments. Though it struggled commercially upon release, it has since earned a devoted following for its visual inventiveness and its emotionally grounded portrait of adolescent restlessness and longing.
This cell captures Jim Hawkins in close-up, his gaze directed upward against a dark, cave-like environment with a diffuse light source behind him. Drawn across three consecutive frames, the shot suggests a held or gently unfolding moment, preserving the quiet intensity that defines the character throughout the film.
