FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures released The Fast and the Furious in June 2001, a film that arrived at a moment when street racing culture was crossing into mainstream American cinema. Directed by Rob Cohen and produced on a modest budget, it became a surprise box office phenomenon and launched one of the longest-running franchises in studio history. The film's influence on car culture, action filmmaking, and ensemble casting proved lasting well beyond its initial release.

This cell captures Edwin's car from above, a striking overhead composition that isolates the white sports car against a dark surface bathed in ambient colored light. The sequence of three frames suggests a continuous camera pass, with subtle shifts in framing and exposure across each image. A red element visible in the lower right of the third frame hints at the surrounding environment. It is a quiet, almost architectural moment centered entirely on the vehicle itself.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
