FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures released The Fast and the Furious in June 2001, a film that arrived at a particular cultural crossroads where street racing subculture, post-millennial action filmmaking, and ensemble casting converged into something unexpectedly durable. Directed by Rob Cohen, it launched a franchise that would span decades, but the original retains a grounded, analog energy that later entries traded away.

This cell captures a high-angle sequence shot of Brian's car, the yellow vehicle that serves as one of the film's most recognizable visual signatures. Photographed from above within what appears to be a warehouse or garage interior, the motion blur across these sequential frames preserves the kinetic quality of a scene built around movement, speed, and the particular grammar of early 2000s action cinematography.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
