FILM NOTES

The Fast and the Furious arrived in June 2001 from Universal Pictures, directed by Rob Cohen. Built around street racing culture in Los Angeles, it launched one of the most commercially durable franchises in Hollywood history. The film introduced audiences to a world of modified imports, underground competition, and a particular strain of early-2000s urban mythology that resonated far beyond its modest origins as a magazine article adaptation.

This cell, titled Night Street Scene, captures three consecutive frames from an elevated nighttime exterior, the city spread below in pools of light and traffic. A figure stands near a vehicle whose headlights cut through what appears to be rain or rising steam. The tight sequential framing preserves the rhythm of a single sustained moment from one of the film's atmospheric location sequences.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
