FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures released The Fast and the Furious in June 2001, arriving at a moment when street racing culture was crossing into mainstream American cinema. Directed by Rob Cohen and produced on a modest budget, the film became a surprise box office phenomenon and launched one of the longest-running franchises in studio history. Its influence on action filmmaking, car culture, and ensemble casting proved lasting well beyond its initial release.

This cell, titled Night Street Racing, captures three frames from an overhead sequence depicting a silver car and a red vehicle in close competition beneath artificial light. The inverted angle and visible motion blur reflect the film's kinetic visual language, and the progression across the three frames gives the cell a genuine sense of speed and spatial tension.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
