FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures released The Fast and the Furious in June 2001, directed by Rob Cohen and produced on a modest budget that no one expected to return the cultural dividend it did. The film arrived at a moment when street racing subculture was crossing into mainstream awareness, and its blend of practical stunt work and location shooting in Los Angeles gave it an authenticity that resonated with audiences and launched one of cinema's most durable franchises.

These three consecutive 35mm frames capture the sequence titled Dom's Car Rolls, preserving a continuous sliver of the crash in overhead or canted perspective. The dust plume and incremental vehicle displacement across the frames reflect the practical, in-camera approach to action that defined the production, making this a tangible record of a pivotal moment in the film.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
