FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures released The Fast and the Furious in June 2001, arriving at a moment when street racing culture was crossing from underground subculture into mainstream American cinema. Directed by Rob Cohen, the film launched one of the most commercially durable franchises in studio history and established a new template for action filmmaking built around automotive spectacle and ensemble loyalty.

This cell, titled Street Racing, preserves three consecutive 35mm frames from what appears to be a single high-speed night racing sequence. The tight framing isolates the dark, lacquered bodywork of a racing vehicle, its surface catching amber streetlight as motion blur compresses the surrounding environment into abstraction. The near-identical exposures across all three frames speak to the brevity of the moment captured.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
