The Garbage Pail Kids Movie was released in 1987 through Atlantic Releasing Corporation, adapted from the wildly popular Topps trading card series that had scandalized parents and delighted children throughout the mid-1980s. Directed by Rod Amateau, the film remains a singular artifact of its era, representing the collision of gross-out youth culture with low-budget practical creature effects at a moment when both were at their commercial peak. Its notoriety has only deepened with time, making original 35mm material genuinely scarce.
