Produced by Atlantic Entertainment Group and released in August 1987, The Garbage Pail Kids Movie brought the controversial Topps trading card series to life through elaborate prosthetic makeup and practical creature effects. Directed by Rod Amateau, the film was met with near-universal critical rejection and earned a Razzie nomination, yet it has endured as a genuine artifact of late-1980s outsider cinema, occupying a singular place in cult film history.
