Produced by Atlantic Releasing Corporation and directed by Rod Amateau, The Garbage Pail Kids Movie arrived in August 1987 as a live-action adaptation of the wildly popular Topps trading card series. The film drew immediate controversy for its crude humor and grotesque puppet characters, earning a swift critical drubbing while simultaneously cementing its place as a genuine artifact of late-1980s pop culture excess. Decades on, it remains a curious document of an era when novelty properties were rushed to screen with little restraint.

This cell, titled Tangerine and Dodger, captures Mackenzie Astin and Katie Barberi together in a darkened interior, rendered in cool blue-toned light.
