The Garbage Pail Kids Movie, released in 1987 by Atlantic Entertainment Group, arrived at the height of the trading card craze that had made Topps' gross-out sticker series a genuine cultural flashpoint. Directed by Rod Amateau, the live-action adaptation pushed the franchise into territory that earned it a PG-13 rating and a complicated legacy, making surviving 35mm material a genuine artifact of mid-eighties licensed cinema.
