FILM NOTES

Kill Bill: Volume 1 arrived in October 2003 through Miramax Films, marking Quentin Tarantino's return to directing after a six-year absence. A stylized revenge saga drawing from samurai cinema, spaghetti westerns, and martial arts films, it became one of the defining American films of the decade, celebrated for its bold visual language and Robert Richardson's striking cinematography.

This three-frame cell, titled The Bride, captures a figure mid-action against a warm amber background, the deep shadows and rich tonal contrast immediately recognizable from the film's distinctive palette. Across the sequence the subject becomes progressively clearer, with the final frame revealing facial detail and what appears to be light-edged costume trim framing the figure.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
