FILM NOTES

Miramax released Kill Bill: Vol. 1 in October 2003, marking Quentin Tarantino's return to directing after a six-year absence. A stylized revenge epic drawing on samurai cinema, spaghetti westerns, and Hong Kong action films, it became one of the defining American films of its decade and cemented Tarantino's reputation for genre synthesis and visual audacity.

This three-frame sequence captures The Bride in close-up, shot from a low angle that emphasizes presence and resolve. Soft blue bokeh fills the background, placing her within one of the film's more atmospherically lit interiors. The consecutive frames suggest a held or slowly unfolding moment, giving this cell an almost portrait-like stillness unusual for such a kinetic film.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
