FILM NOTES

Miramax released Kill Bill: Vol. 1 in October 2003, marking Quentin Tarantino's return to directing after a six-year absence following Jackie Brown. A stylized revenge epic drawing from samurai cinema, spaghetti westerns, and Hong Kong martial arts films, it became one of the defining American films of the decade, earning widespread critical admiration for its bold visual language and nonlinear structure.

This cell, titled The Bride, captures three consecutive 35mm frames from a close-up of Beatrix Kiddo as The Bride, her face tilted sideways against soft blue bokeh lights suggesting a nighttime setting. The tight framing and repeated composition across all three frames reflect Tarantino's deliberate, portrait-like approach to his central figure.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
