Miramax released Kill Bill: Vol. 1 in October 2003, the first installment of Quentin Tarantino's two-part revenge epic. Drawing from martial arts cinema, spaghetti westerns, and anime, the film marked a bold stylistic statement from one of American cinema's most distinctive voices.
