Pulp Fiction arrived in October 1994 through Miramax Films, directed by Quentin Tarantino following his debut Reservoir Dogs. The film won the Palme d'Or at Cannes and reshaped American independent cinema, its nonlinear structure and sharp dialogue influencing a generation of filmmakers. Shot on 35mm by cinematographer Andrzej Sekula, the format gives the image a texture inseparable from the film's identity.

This cell captures Vincent Vega and Mia Wallace during the Jack Rabbit Slim's twist contest, the stage bathed in deep purple and red light with a microphone stand visible in frame. Three consecutive frames from the same shot, they document a single sustained moment from one of the film's most celebrated sequences.
