FILM NOTES

Pulp Fiction was released by Miramax Films in October 1994, following its Palme d'Or win at Cannes that May. Quentin Tarantino's second feature restructured Hollywood storytelling through its interlocking narratives and sharp, literary dialogue, and its success helped define the independent cinema boom of the mid-1990s. The film remains one of the most studied American pictures of its decade.

This cell, titled Captain Koons, captures Christopher Walken mid-monologue in the celebrated watch sequence, one of cinema's most precisely written and performed single-scene speeches. Three consecutive frames hold the domestic interior setting, with Walken leaning toward the young boy as the dialogue unfolds. The middle frame carries a circular aperture artifact, a quiet reminder that this image passed through a projector before finding its way here.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
