Toei Animation released Saint Seiya: Legend of Crimson Youth in July 1988 as the third theatrical film in the Saint Seiya franchise, capitalizing on the television series then airing in Japan. The film introduced Abel, the god of the sun, and marked a notable expansion of the mythology established in the weekly broadcast. Produced during the height of the franchise's popularity, it remains a significant artifact of late-1980s Toei theatrical animation.

This cell captures Pegasus Seiya mid-combat, arms raised within his Pegasus Cloth against a rocky, ruined backdrop.
