Toei Animation released Saint Seiya: Legend of Crimson Youth in July 1988 as the third theatrical entry in the Saint Seiya franchise, capitalizing on the television series at the height of its popularity across Japan and later Latin America and Europe. The film introduced Abel, god of the sun, and marked a notable escalation in the cosmological stakes of the mythology Masami Kurumada had established in the manga.

This cell captures Pegasus Seiya and Cygnus Hyoga in a dynamic outdoor confrontation, framed against a treeline in what reads as a charged moment between the two Bronze Saints. The strip runs three near-identical frames from the same shot, with subtle variation in the third due to film curvature — a natural characteristic of original 35mm theatrical production material from this period.
