FILM NOTES

Toei Animation released Saint Seiya: Evil Goddess Eris in July 1987 as the first theatrical feature spun from the enormously popular television series, itself adapted from Masami Kurumada's manga. Arriving at the height of the franchise's cultural dominance in Japan, the film brought the Bronze Saints to cinema screens and introduced Eris as a mythological antagonist, cementing Saint Seiya's place in the canon of late-1980s anime.

This three-frame sequence captures Saori Kido in close-up, her purple hair framing a tilted face and the wide, luminous eyes characteristic of Toei's theatrical animation from this period. The successive frames show minimal but deliberate progression, preserving a quiet, vulnerable moment for the character central to the film's dramatic stakes.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
