Toei Animation released Saint Seiya: The Movie in 1987 as a theatrical companion to the television series then airing in Japan. Condensed into a standalone feature, the film brought the Bronze Saints' mythological battles to cinema audiences at the height of the franchise's popularity, representing Toei's confident investment in the property during anime's theatrical boom of the mid-to-late 1980s.

This cell captures Saori Kido in close-up, her purple hair and large expressive eyes filling the frame against a matching purple background. The three sequential frames reflect a held or near-static moment, a compositional choice that draws sustained attention to her face. Such intimate character studies of a central figure are among the more quietly compelling pieces the film produced.
