Labyrinth was released in 1986 through TriStar Pictures, produced by George Lucas and directed by Jim Henson. A landmark of practical creature artistry, the film united the Muppet workshop's puppetry tradition with a darker fantasy vision, drawing on the talents of Brian Froud for conceptual design. Though its theatrical run was modest, the film has earned enduring cult status and remains a touchstone of 1980s fantasy filmmaking.
