FILM NOTES

Labyrinth was released in 1986 by TriStar Pictures, produced by George Lucas and directed by Jim Henson in what would become one of his final feature films. A blend of fantasy, puppetry, and practical effects, the film found its lasting audience through home video and has remained a touchstone of 1980s imaginative cinema, celebrated for Brian Froud's creature designs and David Bowie's commanding screen presence.

This cell, titled Jareth the Goblin King, captures a young woman in a fur-trimmed winter coat within a dimly lit interior setting consistent with the film's labyrinthine environments. The three continuous frames preserve a quiet, atmospheric moment early in her journey, offering a rare still record of the film's distinctive production design and period costume work on 35mm.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
