Labyrinth was released in 1986 by TriStar Pictures, produced by George Lucas and directed by Jim Henson in what would become one of his final feature films. A blend of live action and elaborate puppetry from the Jim Henson Company, the film found its audience largely through home video and has since become a defining artifact of 1980s fantasy filmmaking, representing the creative peak of practical creature effects and imaginative world-building in that era.
