FILM NOTES

Jim Henson's Labyrinth was released by TriStar Pictures in the summer of 1986, arriving at the intersection of practical creature effects and rock spectacle that defined the decade's fantasy filmmaking. Produced with George Lucas and featuring David Bowie's original score, the film drew on Henson's Creature Shop at the height of its powers. Though its initial box office was modest, Labyrinth has since earned a devoted following and stands as a landmark of handcrafted cinematic imagination.

This cell captures Sarah Williams in one of the film's most viscerally unsettling moments, pinned to the ground as a mass of creature hands and claws press in from every direction. The continuous three-frame sequence holds the shot steady, giving the collector an extended look at Jennifer Connelly's physical performance against a surrounding tide of puppetry that remains striking nearly four decades on.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
