FILM NOTES

Jim Henson's Labyrinth was released by TriStar Pictures in 1986, a collaboration between Henson's creature workshop and director George Lucas's producing sensibility that brought an entirely handcrafted fantasy world to the screen. Though its initial box office was modest, the film has endured as a landmark of practical puppetry and animatronics, representing the full creative range of the Henson organization at its peak.

This cell captures Ludo in close-up, his large dark claws and dense reddish-brown fur filling the frame as he grips a wooden or stone surface. Shot at ground level, the framing emphasizes the sheer physical scale of the character, a testament to the Henson workshop's ability to make fabricated creatures feel genuinely present and tactile on film.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
