Labyrinth was released in 1986 through TriStar Pictures, produced by George Lucas and directed by Jim Henson. A landmark of practical creature effects and puppetry, the film blended fantasy storytelling with an original David Bowie soundtrack, cementing its place as one of the defining family fantasy films of the decade despite a modest theatrical run that gave way to enduring cult status.
