Clerks arrived in 1994 through Miramax Films after its celebrated debut at Sundance, where Kevin Smith's debut feature announced a new voice in American independent cinema. Shot for roughly $27,000 on black-and-white 16mm later blown up to 35mm, the film's raw, dialogue-driven portrait of a day in a New Jersey convenience store became a touchstone of 1990s independent filmmaking and launched the View Askewniverse.
This cell captures Caitlin Bree within the familiar interior of the Quick Stop, the shelved merchandise and faint Coca-Cola signage grounding the frame in the film's signature setting. The triple-frame run preserves the same shot across three consecutive cells, offering a rare look at the continuity of the original 35mm print.
