FILM NOTES

Digimon: The Movie arrived in October 2000, distributed by Fox Kids and produced through a collaboration between Toei Animation and Saban Entertainment. The film compiled three separate Japanese Digimon shorts into a single theatrical release, riding the wave of the franchise's enormous popularity during the peak of the early 2000s digital monster craze. It represented a significant moment for American anime distribution, bringing a beloved television property to the big screen for its dedicated young audience.

This encapsulated cell, titled Tai Kamiya, captures the protagonist in a striking animated composition, his white headphones prominent against a dark background punctuated by colorful crowd elements and bold yellow diagonal shapes. The frame repeats across three identical exposures, a common artifact of theatrical animation printing. Tai, voiced by Joshua Seth, anchors the scene, with Matt Ishida, voiced by Michael Reisz, also present among the named figures within this piece.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
