DreamWorks Animation released Shrek in May 2001, marking a turning point for computer-animated features and signaling a genuine rival to Disney's dominance of the form. Directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, the film earned the first Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and became a defining pop-culture touchstone of the early 2000s, launching one of animation's most successful franchises.

This cell, titled Shrek and Donkey, captures Eddie Murphy's Donkey across three frames drawn from the film's 35mm print. Two frames place Donkey in an outdoor setting near a wooden structure, and a third finds him inside what appears to be a grand interior space with a decorative floor — quiet moments from one of the era's most beloved animated pairings.
