DreamWorks Animation released Shrek in May 2001, marking a turning point for computer-animated features outside the Disney-Pixar axis. Directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, the film blended fairy-tale irreverence with genuine emotional weight, earning the inaugural Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and cementing DreamWorks as a serious force in the medium.

This cell, titled Shrek, captures frames from a dimly lit interior sequence featuring Shrek and Princess Fiona. The 35mm strip reads inverted, presenting Shrek in an upside-down climbing or suspended position against the dark setting, with Fiona partially visible alongside him. The final two frames hold nearly identical compositions, drawn from consecutive moments within the same continuous shot.
