DreamWorks Animation released Shrek in May 2001, marking a turning point for computer-animated feature filmmaking. Directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, the film challenged Disney's long dominance of the animated fairy tale and became the first winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Its irreverent humor and technical ambition made it a cultural landmark that reshaped the industry.

This cell, titled Donkey, captures three consecutive frames of the beloved character voiced by Eddie Murphy. Donkey gazes upward within a rocky, cave-like interior warmed by firelight, the repetition across the strip offering a rare glimpse of the subtle movement preserved between individual exposures on original 35mm release print film.
