DreamWorks Animation released Shrek in May 2001, marking a turning point for computer-generated feature filmmaking and signaling a genuine challenge to Disney's long dominance of the animated genre. Directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, the film became a cultural touchstone, winning the inaugural Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and launching one of animation's most enduring franchises.

This cell, titled Shrek, presents three frames drawn from a close-up sequence focused entirely on the ogre himself. Each frame captures Shrek's face angled downward, his green skin filling the composition and a brown textured hat visible at the crown.
