DreamWorks Animation released Shrek in May 2001, marking a turning point for the studio and for computer-generated feature filmmaking broadly. Directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, the film earned the first Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and demonstrated that CGI storytelling could carry genuine wit and emotional weight alongside its technical ambition.

This cell, titled Shrek in His Swamp, captures a repeated sequence of frames showing Shrek from the lower body down, his legs positioned near a wooden sign within the familiar muddy terrain of his swamp. The repetition across the strip gives collectors a sustained look at the practical, grounded world the filmmakers built around their solitary ogre protagonist.
