DreamWorks Animation released Shrek in May 2001, marking a turning point for computer-animated features and offering a knowing, irreverent counterpoint to the fairy-tale tradition Disney had long defined. Directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, the film became a cultural landmark and the first winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Its blend of sharp humor, genuine heart, and groundbreaking digital imagery made it one of the most influential animated films of its generation.

This cell, titled Lord Farquaad, captures the villain looming over the Gingerbread Man during the film's memorable interrogation sequence. The three consecutive frames preserve a single sustained moment from that darkly comic scene, holding Farquaad's menacing posture and Gingy's defiant vulnerability in the amber of original 35mm photochemical film.
