DreamWorks Animation released Shrek in May 2001, marking a turning point for computer-animated features and challenging Disney's long dominance of the fairy-tale genre. Directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, the film became a cultural phenomenon, winning the inaugural Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and launching one of animation's most successful franchises.

This three-frame cell captures Lord Farquaad's interrogation of the Gingerbread Man, who is restrained on a cookie sheet as Farquaad presses him for information. A fairy-tale wanted card is visible in the foreground across the sequence. The three frames share nearly identical composition, preserving a sustained moment from one of the film's most darkly comic early scenes.
