DreamWorks Animation released Shrek in May 2001, marking a turning point for computer-animated features outside the Disney umbrella. Directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, the film became a cultural touchstone, blending fairy-tale satire with irreverent humor and earning the inaugural Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Its success reshaped the animation industry and launched one of the most commercially significant franchises of the decade.

This cell captures three consecutive frames from a single continuous shot featuring Lord Farquaad's Guards, filmed from a low angle looking upward toward armored figures set against wooden or stone architecture. Chains or rope are visible in the composition, placing the moment within the tournament or Duloc sequences. The repeated framing across all three panels reflects the tight frame rate of the original 35mm print.
