DreamWorks Animation released Shrek in May 2001, marking a turning point for computer-generated feature filmmaking outside of Pixar. Directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, the film earned the first Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and demonstrated that irreverent, layered storytelling could find enormous audiences across generations. Its production represented a genuine technical and cultural milestone, and original 35mm elements from the release carry lasting significance for animation history.

This cell, titled Fiona, Shrek and Donkey, captures three consecutive frames from what appears to be a shared moment during the trio's journey through a forest or swamp setting. Princess Fiona, Shrek, and Donkey appear together across the strip, the slight shift in framing between frames preserving the natural rhythm of the shot as it ran through the projector.
