Shrek was released by DreamWorks Animation in May 2001 and arrived as a genuine turning point for computer-animated features. Directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson, it challenged the conventions of the fairy-tale genre with irreverent humor and genuine emotional depth, earning the first-ever Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Its cultural footprint has only grown in the decades since.

This cell, titled Fiona and Shrek, captures three consecutive frames from what appears to be a quietly intimate moment shared between Shrek and Princess Fiona, bathed in warm golden light. The repeated composition across all three frames gives the strip a meditative quality, holding the two central characters together in a single sustained breath of the story.
