Shrek arrived in May 2001 from DreamWorks Animation, the studio founded by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and David Geffen — the S, K, and G behind the SKG imprint. The film became a cultural landmark, winning the inaugural Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and demonstrating that computer-generated animation could carry genuine wit and emotional weight alongside technical ambition.
