DreamWorks Animation released Shrek in May 2001, marking a pivotal moment in computer-generated feature filmmaking developed in partnership with PDI. The film became a cultural landmark and commercial phenomenon, launching one of animation's most enduring franchises and signaling a new era of irreverent, layered storytelling aimed at audiences of all ages.

This cell, titled Trailer End Card by the operator, preserves three identical frames from the theatrical trailer's closing image: a dark sky, a large full moon, and a silhouetted figure accompanied by the text "MAY 2001" and "WWW.SHREK.COM" alongside the DreamWorks and PDI logos. As promotional material, it represents how the film was first introduced to the public ahead of its release.
