FILM NOTES

Paramount Pictures released Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in May 1984 as the prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark, directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by George Lucas. The film pushed the adventure serial formula into darker, more visceral territory, earning a PG rating that helped prompt the creation of the PG-13 classification later that year. Shot on location across three continents, it remains a landmark of practical effects filmmaking and a defining entry in the franchise.

This cell captures Indiana Jones in a low-angle composition that emphasizes the iconic silhouette of his fedora against a smoky blue atmospheric background. Across three near-identical frames, the figure looks downward into an unseen light source, the repeating composition suggesting a moment of suspended tension drawn from the film's theatrical 35mm print.
