FILM NOTES

Paramount Pictures released Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in May 1984 as the prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark, with Steven Spielberg directing and George Lucas producing. The film pushed the adventure genre into darker territory, generating enough controversy over its content to help prompt the creation of the PG-13 rating later that year. It remains a significant studio production of the decade.

This three-frame sequence captures Indiana Jones and Willie Scott together in a dimly lit, blue-toned close two-shot, the frames advancing in tight succession through what reads as an intimate dramatic exchange. The continuous action across all three cells gives the strip a quiet cinematic rhythm, preserving a private moment between the two figures against the dark background.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
